This is quite true. Unless they are also completely invincible ( which they often are not because that would be too obvious ), they tend to suck even with cheats.

However, players who deploy it as a pass-the-controller experience at their next party will almost certainly get a lot out of it. This is an excellent game to play with a few friends after a drink or two, with everyone taking a run and passing the controls on when they either die or complete a level. This is all to say that Phantom Abyss falls somewhat short on achieving the goal of offering a challenging parkour adventure in a roguelite package. The whip and phantom gameplay involving other players’ trial and error are unique, but its clunkiness, difficulty, and disparate progression are worth a pause.

This is a title devoted only to dungeon brawling, with hours and hours of killing and lots of levels to explore.

Completing each run in the game’s Adventure mode unlocks a new kind of whip for you to use. Each new whip grants a single buff when equipped — one grants an extremely useful double jump, and another lets you drop coins you’ve collected in water to restore your health. There are loads of them, and once unlocked, can be used to augment any future runs you undertake. You can also spend coins collected in-level on temporary upgrades that will disappear after the run.

I understand that is due to the servers being reset but perhaps a forced progression reset wasn't the best idea.

If you’re savvy enough, you can use the spectres to your advantage by dashing through while the traps reset. Conversely, they can also trigger a swathe of saw blades while you’re not looking, so it pays to be vigilant.

Recover keys from chests to unlock deeper, deadlier sections of the temple that house more coveted relics. The more difficult a relic is to obtain, the greater the reward - the final Legendary Relic of a temple allows you to claim the whole temple so that it's gone forever.
